Sarah Dingwall
Sarah Dingwall is an Australian glass artist based on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula with a degree in Fine Arts from Monash University. For over a decade she has been creating works in glass through a small-scale process known as flameworking.
Her pieces range from wearable to purely sculptural forms made from flameworked borosilicate glass. Borosilicate is a 'hard' type of glass used in scientific labware and domestic ovenware (pyrex). Each piece is also annealed to optimize strength for maximum structural integrity, leaving each piece very resistant to shock. Safe to wear with a bit of care.
Much of Sarah’s work stems from her fascination with the natural world, with seasons and cycles observed in nature. Her most recent work explores flameworked glass paired with found objects from nearby coastlines and bushlands. With a strong focus on organic and intricate forms, Sarah’s work emulates a sense of wonder and simple delights found in the living world.
