Malcolm Taylor
President of Manchester Academy of Fine Art and also a member of The Pastel Society and The Royal Society Of British Artists.
Malcolm has been painting for over forty years, initially while working as a design consultant but he’s now been a full time artist for more than ten years. In this time his work has become distinctive and now he works in an increasingly abstract format. He uses his many sketchbook studies and drawings as a starting point from which a fully abstract image often develops, but he doesn't have a fixed image in mind when he starts, preferring to let the imagery evolve through the process of painting. He doesn’t concern himself with reproducing a likeness but in capturing the essential characteristics of a subject using a process of constant change until the tensions of the composition are right.
Malcolm has had his work exhibited in many national exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Royal Society of British Artists, The Pastel Society, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Royal Institute Of Painters in Watercolour, The Royal Society of Marine Artists and The Royal Glasgow Institute Of Fine Art. His work has been shown in private and public galleries throughout the UK and as far afield as New York, Seattle and in collections in France, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand and The Cayman Islands.
