Jill Macleod

I was born in the East Neuk of Fife and Graduated BA (Hons) Open University (1998) and Edinburgh College of Art BA Combined Studies, (2011).  My paintings explore the deconstruction of what we see into lines and blocks of colour or texture resulting in a more linear depiction of traditional perceptions of landscape. My preferred medium is acrylic paint on board and subjects focus mainly on places I am familiar with and researched. I enjoy playing with scale, density, colour and the interaction of the different spaces within a composition. The aim is to produce a painting which is semi-abstract, while still retaining some recognisable features.  I am a member of SSA (Society of Scottish Artists), VAS (Visual Arts Scotland), and work from my studio at WASPS, Patriothall, in Edinburgh.
