Ian Burdall

Ian Burdall is a self taught painter in oils. 

His subject matter is mainly based on the east coast of England from the Humber to Northumberland. He chooses the grittier side of life, showing where people work and have left their mark on the coastline. Inspired by vibrant colours, rust and signs of wear and tear. 

He lives in Saltaire, and is part of Bradford’s vibrant arts community including the 'Not Just Hockney' organisation which showcases the work of local artists in exhibitions and big screen presentations in the city.

He has also had work in the Mercer Gallery Harrogate, the town of his birth and The Ferens Gallery in Hull his merchant seaman father's home town and probably the root of his love for the sea.
