Davy Brown

Davy Brown was born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire in 1950 . He studied at Glasgow School of Art under David Donaldson and Duncan Shanks from 1968 to 1972 and then went on to complete teacher training at Moray House Edinburgh. In 1975 Davy won a scholarship from the Institute of Cultural Affairs in Chicago allowing him to travel throughout America, Canada and Iceland developing his skills as a talented contemporary artist.

When Davy returned from his travels he successfully taught art in Scottish schools, during which time he continued to paint and exhibit in the UK, and has held over 70 one man shows since his debut exhibition in Glasgow’s Citizen Theatre in 1971. His distinctive airy colourful landscapes and beautiful mysterious still life compositions have grown in demand over the years and in 2002 Davy eventually left teaching to become a full time painter.

Davy Brown’s work is held in many corporate and private collections throughout the world.
