My work is rooted heavily in the creative process. I have an enduring fascination with the metamorphosis of shape and intersecting forms and their ability to communicate and trigger an emotional response whilst allowing the viewer to navigate a passage through the painting. Metaphorical windows are a recurring motif, as are marks and symbols that dance and scribe over shifting planes.
I have been influenced by the textile history of my Indian heritage, having grown up in a household of textile ‘artists’ where this played an important role in storytelling. Colour is fundamental to my work. The prowess of colour, its history, psychology and symbolism are vital cornerstones of the work.
